About Ariana May
Ariana May is a multi-award winning film composer. She won the Best Original Score Award at the Oxford University Short Film Festival in both 2024 and 2025.
Ariana has composed and released original soundtrack albums for nine short films and several Oxford theatre productions. Her work has been shown at venues such as Curzon Cinemas, the Tuanku Bainun Auditorium, the O’Reilly Theatre, the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building, the Burton Taylor Studio and the Michael Pilch Studio and featured on BBC Introducing.
She was commissioned by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust to compose the Shakespare Anthem, the Villers Quartet, Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, Oxford Media Society for their podcast theme tune, and the Ruskin School of Art to collaborate on the Art Film and Music 2025 showcase. She also completed the 2025 ‘Composing for Film and TV’ course at the National Film and Television School.
Ariana is a passionate composer, pianist and singer who performs regular solo recitals of her compositions in the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building and has performed at the Royal Albert Hall.

Ariana has written scores for released and upcoming short films such as Windows (Natalie Tiede), Crescendo (Luther Recido), Reckoning (Luther Recido), Soror (Niamh Campbell), Miracle Nag (Yusuf Luqman and Matthew Temple), Hand to Heart (Rauni Barros Da Silva), It’s My Party (Rosie Robinson), The Dragons at Lindisfarne (Natalie Tiede), Lullaby O’ The Ruin (Eunjo Lee), and theatre productions such as Hippolytus (Amy Griffiths) and Anna Karenina (James Hunter).
